Affirmative

Subject + had + VIII + object

Example:

  1. We had played a match
  2. They had completed the task.
  3. I had gone to Mumbai last week.

Negative

Subject + had + not + VIII + object

Example:

  1. They had not completed the task.
  2. We had not played yesterday.
  3. I had not danced in the programme.

Interrogative

Had + subject + VIII + object?

Example:

  1. Had I gone to Mumbai?
  2. Had we completed our syllabus?
  3. Had they met you yesterday?

Negative Interrogative

Had + subject + not + VIII + object?

Example:

  1. Had we not completed our syllabus?
